Netball Captain’s Report

Junior netball   Senior Netball

It was yet another stellar season from Lauriston’s netballers, with some outstanding results across the board. It was great to see so many girls, from year seven to twelve getting involved, with participation rates soaring once again and proving that netball continues to be the most popular sport at Lauriston.

Congratulations and a big well done to all the student and coaches for putting in the hard yards at training on those frosty winter mornings and following up with great sportsmanship and determination on court.

Out at Duncan McKinnon on a Thursday afternoon, our juniors pulled through with some great results in trying conditions including torrential rain and gale force winds. The A team finished 2nd, B team 3rd, C team 6th, D team, 4th, E team 5th and F team 6th in their respective divisions. Well done girls.

Our year ten’s rallied hard in the absence of the year 9s which was awesome to see such large numbers to produce these results; A team 2nd in their division, B team 5th and C team 3rd.

Finally, the seniors, despite having done GSV netball every year since year 7, this year was somewhat sentimental being  the year 12’s last year. The A team produced a fantastic result in winning their zone and placing 3rd overall in the tournament, going down to Genazzano by 4 goals, in a tough battle. The B team (in the A division) also made finals which was a momentous effort. Well done to all girls involved. Due to Lauriston’s high participation rate, many teams were in a division higher than they would normally be so it was great to see such impressive results with the C team finishing 3rd and D and E team 5th in their respective divisions.

Congratulations to all the netballers in 2015 – definitely a bright future for Lauriston netball and I look forward to seeing everyone have fun and grow and develop as players.
