Our Year 10 & Senior rowing squads were back in action on the weekend. Our Year 10 girls raced in very trying conditions on the Barwon River, Geelong. Crews from all schools struggled with strong wind gusts which played playing with steering and created rough water. Our Yr 10 crews continued to impress and raced competitively finishing mid-field amongst their respective divisions. The next 3 weeks leading into the Head of the Schoolgirls, we look forward to lots of fun and exciting training sessions to gain maximum gains to allow the girls to race at their very best.
Our senior girls continue to improve each session. 3 land & 3 water session plus racing on Saturday is a very challenging program. Saturday saw our senior squad race on the Yarra in the Melbourne Henley regatta. Our 1st & 2nd IVs were combined to race the schoolgirl VIII Division 2 only to be narrowly beaten by the St Catherine’s 2nd VIII who have been the form in their division all season. It was a display of true grit and resilience and has given us the knowledge that both crews are on track for a great outcome at the HOSG regatta. Our 3rd senior IV raced and in the Female C Grade division and showed great speed and resilience against a more experienced opposition Club Crew and challenged them right to the line. We look forward to watching their progress.
