Water Polo Finalists – A Captain’s Report
This year’s season of GSV Senior Water polo, has been unforgettable and every girl involved should be incredibly proud herself. From the first training session back in term 1, to the finals night on the 2nd of June at MSAC, it is safe to say that every person in the team tried their very best and contributed until the very end.
Although our team was not very confident in the beginning, it did not take long until we really came together. In the team there were some stand out players, and less confident players, however, everyone contributed and tried their best and we soon learnt that the fastest way to get the ball down the pool was to share it around.
Every Monday morning at 6.30 the Water polo girls would keenly jump into the pool with enthusiasm. Our fitness improved, and we learnt more tactics, stills and more about each other.
Being undefeated and winning our A grade zone until the grand final was an amazing achievement. In every game, every girl jumped out of the pool red cheeked and buzzing with joy.
Unfortunately our nerves got to us in the first quarter of the grand final and we missed out on winning the Grand Final against Loreto by a few goals, suffice to say, it was a nail biting game as every girl once again, put their heart and soul into it. Being runners up did not get us down as we all knew how well we had played all season and how much we had improved as a team.
