Welcome Back! Year 7 – 12 Term 1 Sport Outline

Welcome to the 2017 School year. We hope you are all relaxed, ready and raring for a year full of sport. There are so many sporting opportunities at Lauriston and we encourage all girls to involve themselves in one or more areas of our recreational, weekly or carnival sports.

To assist with your planning we have attached an overview of all the Lauriston Sport Program activities on offer this term. We would encourage you to familiarise yourself with the various sport communication systems which will have up to date information, calendars, fixtures and news about sport at Lauriston.

GSV Weekly Sport

Lauriston GSV teams train one morning a week and play interschool matches one afternoon each week. We attempt to keep these days consistent throughout the year to assist with your planning. Matches are played from approximately 3.30pm – 6.00pm at both home and away venues and fixtures can be found on the Lauriston blog and Team App. For matches that are played offsite, girls travel by bus to the venue and back to Lauriston at the completion of the match. The sign-up process occurs in the term prior and students will be emailed a google document link to complete this process.

 

2017 Weekly Sport Options

Term 1 – Tennis, Sofftball, Indoor Cricket

Term 2 – Hockey, Netball, Water Polo (10 – 12), AFL (10-12)

Term 3 – Soccer, Volleyball, Badminton (11-12)

Term 4 – Basketball, Field Cricket, Water Polo (7-8)

GSV Carnivals

Students are given the opportunity to trial for any of the carnival events throughout the year. Training and carnival events information will be posted on the Lauriston blog, Team App and in the weekly newsletter.

Tersm 1 – Swimming & Diving

Term 2 – Cross Country

Term 3 – Track & Field

Please note: Students wishing to participate in a carnival sport are also able to participate in a weekly sport each term.

 

Swim Squad Training: Term 1 (commencing Wednesday 1st February)

Monday 6.30am – 8.00am

Tuesday 3.30pm – 4.30pm (as required)

Wednesday 6.30am – 8.00am

Thursday 6.30am – 8.00am

 

Dive Squad Training: Term 1 (commencing Friday 3rd February)

Friday 6.30am – 8.00am

 

Recreational Program

Throughout the year, Lauriston also offers various recreational activities for students that wish to pursue sport and physical activity for fitness, health and personal satisfaction in a recreational, non-competitive environment. These activities are free of charge and students are not required to sign up. The recreational program will commence from Wednesday 1st February.

  • Personal Training: Tuesday 3.30pm – 4.30pm in the weights room
  • Yoga: Thursday 3.30pm – 4.30pm in the dance studio
  • Pilates: Wednesday 7.15am – 8.00am in the dance studio (commencing Wednesday 15th Feb)
  • Recreational Swimming: Thursday 6.30am – 8.00am at the Lauriston Pool
  • Diving: Friday 6.30am – 8.00am at the Lauriston Pool
  • “Get Going with Gilly” Recreational Aerobics: Friday 7.15am – 8.00am in the dance studio
  • Running Club: Tuesday & Friday, Kooyong Park 6.45am – 8.00am. Students meet the coaches at 6.45am and place their bags on the bus.
